Mamita’s Ices
Built on the Morel family’s belief in quality and tradition, Mamita’s Ices was created from recipes passed down from generation to generation. Originally sold from bodega to bodega, these frozen ices quickly made their way to NYC’s marketplace and across the East coast. Today, you can find many of their Latin-inspired flavors in select metropolitan-area bodegas and supermarkets from Massachusetts to Florida and all the way down to Puerto Rico.

The Goal
When Mamita’s came to Asen, it was with one goal in mind: to design a new 4-count box for entrance into grocery stores. From there, it wasn’t long before Asen was designing all of Mamita’s product packaging.
As the brand began expanding within their prime areas, Asen utilized consistent design elements that we knew would resonate with their desired audience. The rest is sweet history!
The Journey
First, we cleaned up the existing logo, created high-quality brand content by photographing each of their nine product flavors, and designed all-new boxes using their enhanced branding elements.
This enhanced branding helped give Mamita’s a more consistent look across the board— something previously missing from both their online and offline presence.
With a consistent new look, the decision was made to re-do their website into an easy-to-use ecommerce store with a custom design.
A Deliciously Refreshing Website
With this new website, an entirely new (previously unreached) part of Mamita’s audience became familiar with the brand, which helped to improve recall at the point of purchase. In addition, a strategic, clear path for visitors was seamlessly implemented into the website’s design to further boost online sales and modernize the brand.
Self-Selling Packaging at the Point of Purchase
Besides online, Mamita’s Ices have always been sold primarily through bodegas and supermarkets, which is why packaging is so critical to this brand’s success. With that in mind, Asen developed product wrappers, boxes, and in-store displays that stood out on shelves and spoke to Mamita’s big personality and fun Latin flair.
To this day, this packaging continues to evoke feelings of warmth, energy, and fun— all staples of Latino heritage, the Morel family history, and frozen Mamita’s treats!
